New to Church?

We fully appreciate that church can seem very different for those who have never been before.  Here is a little bit of information that you may find useful.

What do people wear to church?

What is important isn't how we dress but that we come together.  We welcome everything from jeans to dresses to suits. Have a look at our Photo Gallery here and you'll see how relaxed we are about dress code.

What happens when I open the doors?

When you arrive at Acorn someone will be there to greet you at the door and make you feel very welcome.

You are then welcome to sit wherever you would like - the person on the door may help you find a seat if you are unsure.

Do I need to have a Bible or anything else?

No, you really don't need to bring anything with you - unless you really want to.

Bibles are available to borrow at the back of the church if you want to use one but many people use their phones to access the bible during the service - wifi is free in church.

I came to church, but I'm late.  Is that okay?

Yes - if you arrive late you'll still be very welcome. Life sometimes means we can't make it to church at a certain time or that we have to leave early and that is fine; we understand.

How long is the service?

We start 10:30 and usually finish shortly before 12:00.

Our worship band will lead us in some sung worship using a mix of modern songs and classic old hymns.

The sermon, relates the Bible to our everyday life and is usually about 20 - 30 minutes long.

What happens when you take Communion?

Communion is a time when we are reminded of God's love for us through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus.

We share in bread and wine once a month as part of the service.

What happens after the church service?

Following the service you are welcome to join us for coffee, tea, and biscuits at the back of the hall.

You will find that people at Acorn love to hang around and chat and are very approachable.
